Weinert Twirls Shutout
Wednesday, August 1st, 1928
"That was one of my best outings," said Lefty Weinert. "I was worried a lot in the bullpen. My ball wasn't quite right. Luckily, it can be two different worlds -- the bullpen and the game. Once I stepped on the field, it all fell into place."
It was an impressive start for the Solons hurler. He blanked the Bells 3-0 on a strong 5-hitter while ringing up 3 strikeouts and doling out 1 walk.
Presently Weinert has a 6-1 mark in 7 starts with a 3.57 ERA. He has given up 78 hits in 90.2 innings, struck out 44 and issued 22 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .236 batting average against him.
