A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Charlie Gehringer was at the plate when New York scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Yankees to go in front, 10-9.

"I felt good up there," said Gehringer. "I saw the ball well."

Game 3 is scheduled for tomorrow in New York. The scheduled starters for the game are Ralph Buxton for Los Angeles and Bill Lohrman for New York.
