Los Angeles Triumphs Over New York In World Series
It was a storybook year for the Los Angeles Angels as they closed out a 4-2 series win over the New York Yankees to claim the world championship of baseball.

They wrapped it up with a 9-8 victory to cap an incredible season after they brought home their 5th league championship earlier in the year.

George Scales, the Angels manager, offered his view of the series.

"We had a lot of things going for us," he said, "offense and defense doing it at the right time. That's what it takes to win it all."

Yankees manager Joe McCarthy commented: "We're disappointed we lost, but we're also very proud of what we did all year. They played better baseball than us and they beat us."

During the Coast League regular season, Los Angeles compiled a record of 83-72.
