Los Angeles Leads World Series After 4-2 Game One Win
Game One was big. So was Satchel Paige.

The Los Angeles starter rose to the occasion at Yankee Stadium today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Angels to a crucial 4-2 victory over the New York Yankees. Paige threw 9 innings of 5-hit ball as the Angels won on the road to seize a - lead in the best-of-seven World Series.

Paige, the Los Angeles right-hander, went 9 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 5 hits. He collected 4 strikeouts.

"We were a little off-kilter to start the series, but we're getting things figured out now," Los Angeles manager George Scales told reporters. "At least I hope we are."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow in New York. Slated to start are Ralph Buxton for the Los Angeles Angels and Waite Hoyt for the the New York Yankees.
