Mission Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 3-2
Facing elimination, the Mission Bells were looking for a savior. For today, at least, Martín Dihigo delivered.

At Seals Stadium, the 30-year old pitched a game for the ages to fend off the Seattle Rainiers and help the Bells close their deficit in the Nyquist Trophy Series. Dihigo threw a 9-inning, complete-game shutout in the 4-0 Mission win, striking out 8 and allowing 3 hits. The Bells how trail 2-3 in the best-of-7 series.

Dihigo pitched a complete game for Mission. The right-hander was charged with no runs on 3 hits. He struck out 8 during his 106-pitch performance.

"Teams don't get here by being incompetent, so I really wasn't expecting this," Dihigo said. "I just kept throwing and they kept missing."

Game 6 is set to be played Tuesday in Seattle. Slated to start are Leon Day for the Mission Bells and Willie Ludolph for the the Seattle Rainiers.
