Almost There: Sacramento On Cusp of World Series Triumph After 5-3 Win
An all-important Game Five of the World Series went into extra innings at Polo Grounds, with the Sacramento Solons eventually emerging on top. Sacramento has Hank Steinbacher to thank, after the left fielder went 4-5 with 4 singles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI in the 5-3 victory. The Solons are now one game away from the title, holding a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.

The most crucial at-bat for Sacramento came in the top of the tenth inning. That's when Steinbacher stroked a 1-2 curveball to center for a 2-run single, putting Sacramento up, 5-3.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Sacramento manager Earl McNeely. "It's usually not just one thing."

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at the Polo Grounds. Slated to start are Willie Foster for Sacramento and Bobo Newsom for New York.
