Sacramento Victory Knots
Series |
The Sacramento
Solons, having dropped two of three World
Series games at home, were looking for a savior. For
today, at least, Willie
Foster delivered.
At the Polo Grounds, the 28-year old pitched a game
for the ages to fend off the New
York Giants and help the Solons close their
deficit in the Nyquist Trophy Series. Foster threw a
9-inning, complete-game shutout in the 4-0
Sacramento win, striking out 3 and allowing 8 hits.
The Solons how trail - in the best-of- series.
Foster allowed no earned runs on 8 hits over 9
innings for the Solons. He walked 2 and struck out
3.
"We don't have much margin for error now," Giants
manager John McGraw said. "We need to figure out the
problem and fix it, immediately."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow.
Slated to start are Tony
Freitas for the Sacramento Solons and Bobo
Newsom for the the New York Giants.
