Almost There: Sacramento On Cusp of World Series Triumph After 8-4 Win
The Sacramento Solons moved to within one game of world championship today, downing the visiting Philadelphia Athletics at Moreing Park by a score of 8-4. Solons shortstop Joe Cronin was named player of the game after he went 5-5 with a triple, a double, and 3 singles. The win gives the Solons a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-7 World Series.

Frank Warfield aided the Sacramento cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the second baseman was 2-4 with 2 singles.

"Best-of- series are brutal," Philadelphia manager said. "You can get into trouble so fast. We can't afford any mistakes now."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow in Sacramento. Slated to start are George Earnshaw for the Philadelphia Athletics and Willie Foster for the the Sacramento Solons.
