Host Stars Drop Pivotal
Game 5, Now Trail Series 3-2
|
In a pivotal Game 5, the Sacramento
Solons were hoping for a big game from starter
Fay Thomas.
They got one.
The right-hander shut out the Hollywood
Stars, proving to be the difference-maker as
he led his club to a 2-0 victory. The Solons took
the 2-0 win over the Hollywood
Stars to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7
series.
Thomas, a native of Ellsworth, Kansas, was dealing
all game. He kept Hollywood hitters off-balance,
while giving the Solons 9 quality innings. Thomas
threw 134 pitches, allowing 4 hits and striking out
5.
"Fay did a tremendous job," said Sacramento manager
Kurt Peterson.
Game 6 is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6th, 1931.
The scheduled starters for the game are Jim
Turner for Hollywood and Willie
Foster for Sacramento.
