Solons, Rainiers Play 10
to Settle Game 2, Sacramento Now Leads Series 2-0
|
The Sacramento
Solons nearly wasted a strong game from
starter Hal
Morris, but were saved by some timely hitting
in a 10th inning walk-off win over the Seattle
Rainiers today.
Morris was named player of the game in the 2-1 win
at Moreing Park, after he threw 9 innings of 5-hit
ball. The win allowed Sacramento to seize a 2-0 lead
in the best-of-7 Governor's Cup Series.
Sacramento's win came gift-wrapped. With no one out
in the bottom of the tenth, with the game tied, Lonny
Backer reached on an error by the 3B, driving
in 1 run.
Backer said afterward that he was "glad the fans
were treated to a good ballgame."
Game 3 is set to be played on Saturday, October 8th,
1927 at Dugdale Park. Slated to start are Hal
Morris for the Solons and Will
Peters for the Rainiers.
