Tuesday, September 29th, 1931
Pete Grassi, the manager of the Oakland Oaks, said his players are "devastated" to have missed the playoffs. Today it became official -- the club has run out of games and was mathematically eliminated from qualifying.

In the last 10 seasons, the Oaks have missed the playoffs 8 times. Oakland last won the Nyquist Trophy Series in 1929.
