Beavers End Brown's Streak
Saturday, July 12th, 1941
The Portland Beavers pitching staff did its job today, holding hot-hitting Willard Brown hitless in 3 at-bats during the club's 8-2 victory over the Oakland Oaks at Vaughn Street Park. The disappointing performance ended a 24-game hitting streak for the center fielder.
"I'm a little down right now," Brown said after the game. "I couldn't get anything going when the team needed me, and I hated to see the streak end, too."
This year Brown is batting .309 with 2 home runs. He has scored 46 runs and driven in 47.
