League Punishes Pair for Fighting
Tuesday, June 24th, 1941
After an intense confrontation, both the Angels Clarence Maddern and the Solons Nub Kleinke were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent Los Angeles-Sacramento game. Clarence Maddern will miss 4 games, while Nub Kleinke was suspended for 2 games.

"Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Clarence Maddern commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play."

This year Maddern is batting .338 with 24 hits and 3 home runs. He has scored 18 times and has batted in 15 runs.

This year Kleinke has 8 relief appearances, saving 0. His record is 0-3 with 5 strikeouts in 23.2 innings and a 7.61 ERA.
