Gomez Sharp in 8-0 Shutout
Monday, June 16th, 1941
All went well for Lefty Gomez of the San Francisco Seals as he pitched his team to a 8-0 shutout victory over the Hollywood Stars, limiting them to 5 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Gomez on the day.
"Lefty's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Seals manager Mark Velez. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
In the contest, the San Francisco left-hander rang up 3 and surrendered no walks.
"He didn't give us any second chances," said Stars manager Mike Heath. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."
This year Gomez has 6 wins and 5 losses and a 3.80 ERA.
