Scales Hitless, Streak Ends at 38
Monday, June 16th, 1941
The streak has been snapped.

George Scales failed to get a hit in today's game against the Oakland Oaks, bringing his 38-game hitting spree to an end. The 40-year-old Los Angeles second baseman was 0-for-4, but the Angels got the win and defeated the Oaks 5-3.

"I'm not disappointed at all -- I had a great run," Scales said. "I got to 38 games. I got my name into an elite group with a bunch of good ballplayers. What's there to complain about?"

Currently Scales has 8 home runs and a .377 batting average.
