Earl Averill Out of Action Thursday, August 17th, 1939 The Solons received bad news this morning. Earl Averill will miss 5-6 weeks due to a strained abdominal muscle. He sustained the injury in the Sacramento-San Francisco game while throwing the ball. "I'm disappointed more than anything," he told reporters later in the day. "You can't help your team on the bench," Averill sighed. "I'll do the rehab work and hope for a quick recovery." Averill on the season is batting .347 with 12 home runs. His totals include 54 RBIs and 69 runs scored. He has played in 100 games. |
