Los Angeles First Baseman Picked PCL Player of the Week
Monday, May 15th, 1939
The 35-year-old Los Angeles Angels first baseman might not have the spring he had in his step years ago, but the "old man" can still play the game. Ripper Collins has been a reliable ballplayer, one who has worked hard to earn everything he's achieved and today he sits on top of the heap as he was named the Pacific Coast League Player of the Week.

He went 8-for-15 to rack up a .533 average with 3 home runs and 7 runs batted in this past week. Collins also scored 5 runs.

This season Collins has hit 3 home runs and posted a .333 batting average.
