Tiant Stops Los Angeles
Saturday, September 25th, 1937
Luis Tiant subdued the Los Angeles Angels, 8-0, pitching a 4-hit gem for the Oakland Oaks at Oaks Park.

"He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," Oakland skipper Brandon Dudley said afterward.

Tiant registered 9 strikeouts and issued 3 walks in his superb performance.

"We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said Los Angeles manager Al Borie after the defeat.

This season Tiant has gone 16-16 with an ERA of 4.38, posting 185 strikeouts in 275.1 innings.
