Pippen Dominates Portland Thursday, July 23rd, 1936 Cotton Pippen of the Sacramento Solons spun his magic on the Portland Beavers today. He blanked them 8-0 on 7 hits, registering 1 strikeout and 3 walks. "The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Pippen said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down." Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, Sacramento skipper Kurt Peterson said the team "got solid pitching, good defense and took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations." "Cotton pitched really well but this was a solid performance by everyone," he said. Currently Pippen has a 9-4 won-lost record in 12 starts with a 4.64 ERA.
