Portland's Bowman Shuts Out Seals
Thursday, June 29th, 1933
Fans at Vaughn Street Park witnessed the Portland Beavers blank the San Francisco Seals, 1-0 behind a superb effort by starter Joe Bowman. The Portland right-hander allowed 4 hits in recording the shutout.
"Joe was good today but I don't want to focus too much on a single game," Portland manager Mark Cooley said later. "If you're capable of playing at this level, you're capable of having a good game. The real question is if you can learn from that game and repeat it."
Checking out his stats for the season, Bowman has registered 6 wins and 6 losses in 14 starts, 3.80 ERA and struck out 45 batters in 113.2 innings.
