Al Simmons Wins AL Trophy Monday, August 17th, 1931 At the age of 30, Al Simmons might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Philadelphia left fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .542 batting average. For his efforts Simmons collected the American League Player of the Week Award.
