Gehringer on a Hot Streak, AL Player of the Week
Monday, July 21st, 1941
Charlie Gehringer had a week for the ages as he romped to the American League Player of the Week Award. The happy-go-lucky 39-year-old still plays ball like a kid, mashing and slashing as he goes.
The New York Yankees second baseman hit .333 last week as he chalked up 8 hits in 24 at-bats, 4 home runs, 10 RBIs and 6 runs scored.
Currently Gehringer is batting .255 with 77 hits and 16 home runs. He has knocked in 56 runs and scored 57 times.
