Heintzelman Holds Pirates Scoreless
Monday, July 14th, 1941
The bats were ice cold today for the Pittsburgh Pirates at Polo Grounds IV. New York Giants starter Ken Heintzelman kept the Pirates cold all day, shutting them out in a 3-0 victory. In a fine outing, the 25-year-old hurler allowed 9 hits while striking out 3 and walking 2.
"I'm not quite sure what was different today," Heintzelman admitted later. "I didn't feel like I was doing anything differently, but the results speak for themselves."
In 9 starts this season Heintzelman has crafted a 4-4 record with a 2.34 ERA.
