AL's Top Player Named
Monday, July 14th, 1941
At the age of 27, Cecil Travis might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Washington shortstop put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .522 batting average. For his efforts Travis collected the American League Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 12 hits in 23 at-bats, no home runs and 9 RBIs last week in 6 games.
So far this season Travis is batting .312 with 4 home runs.
