Ostermueller's Season Could be Over
Sunday, July 6th, 1941
The doctors have spoken and Fritz Ostermueller of the Boston Red Sox didn't like what he heard. The 33-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Ostermueller sustained his season-ending injury during the Washington Senators game yesterday at Fenway Park II. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Boston medical staff reported Ostermueller had a torn ligament in his elbow and would be absent from the lineup for at least 10 months.

On the year Ostermueller has worked 117.2 innings with 39 strikeouts en route to a 2-10 record and 4.44 ERA.
