Allen Best AL Starter Tuesday, July 1st, 1941 Johnny Allen's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-2 in June, the 36-year-old Cleveland hurler has been named American League Pitcher of the Month. He fanned 19 in 49.1 innings, logged an ERA of 1.28 and allowed opponents to hit .172 against him. For the year Allen has compiled a 9-4 record with a 2.70 ERA. |
