Chicago Downs Philadelphia as Rigney Tosses 1-0 Shutout Sunday, June 22nd, 1941 Chicago White Sox fans were pleased to see so many goose eggs up on the scoreboard as Johnny Rigney blanked the Philadelphia Athletics, 1-0 at Shibe Park today. Rigney stopped them on 10 hits while walking 2 and striking out 6. "Once he gets in a groove, he can be dynamite," White Sox skipper said. "He was on top of his game in this one."
