Mize Blisters Pittsburgh Thursday, May 30th, 1940 St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Johnny Mize went ballistic today with the bat. He hammered the Pittsburgh Pirates for 5 hits and drove St. Louis to a 12-4 win over Pittsburgh at Forbes Field. Johnny Mize singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, singled in the 6th, struck out in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
