Hamlin Bewilders Browns in 4-0 Shutout
Sunday, August 13th, 1939
Luke Hamlin was in command in his outing against the St. Louis Browns. He hurled the Detroit Tigers to a 4-0 shutout victory, yielded 3 hits and chalked up 5 strikeouts and 3 walks.

"A complete-game shutout is fun territory for me," he told reporters in the postgame interview. "I had good balance and mechanics and was able to keep the ball down. When I do that, good things happen."

So far this year Hamlin has made 23 starts, tossed 192.2 innings, struck out 77 batters and walked 40. His record is 13-7 with a 3.41 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .269 batting average.
