New York Helpless Against MacFayden, Lose 1-0 Wednesday, May 10th, 1939 The St. Louis Browns did little to support starter Danny MacFayden against the New York Yankees, but it turned out he didn't need the help. The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Yankees, striking out 0 and surrendering 4 hits. The performance from MacFayden allowed St. Louis to escape with the 1-0 win despite an anemic offense. "Nobody came to me and said 'Danny, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," MacFayden told BNN reporters following the win.
