Bees Shut Out by Newsom
Wednesday, September 7th, 1938
It wasn't easy but Bobo Newsom made it look that way.
Newsom silenced the Boston Bees, 6-0, in a New York Giants triumph at Polo Grounds IV today. Despite the appearance of dominance, Newsom said later that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up 6 walks and 4 hits.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else."
This season-to-date Newsom has 15 wins and 10 losses and a 3.39 ERA.
