Chandler Records Shutout Against Boston Sunday, October 3rd, 1937 It wasn't easy but Spud Chandler made it look that way. Chandler silenced the Boston Red Sox, 3-0, in a New York Yankees triumph at Yankee Stadium I today. Despite the appearance of dominance, Chandler said later that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up 4 walks and 7 hits. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else."
