September's Best Rookie Named by NL
Tuesday, October 1st, 1935
Luke Hamlin is an old man by baseball standards. In fact, after so many years of being overlooked, the 31-year-old rookie for Philadelphia is a bit surprised himself that he's living the good life right now. In September Hamlin reeled off a 6-0 record in 6 starts as he claimed the National League Rookie of the Month Award.
He posted an ERA of 2.89 with 15 strikeouts in 56 innings and held opponents to a .232 average.
For the season Hamlin has logged 18 wins and 14 losses and struck out 74 batters in 247.2 innings while compiling a 3.67 ERA.
