Senators Witek Smacks 5 Hits
It was a sensational day at the plate for Mickey Witek as he led the charge to a 10-9 win over the Athletics. The Washington second baseman was pure misery for the Philadelphia pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 5 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.

"Witek put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said , manager for the Athletics, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."

Mickey Witek doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Lefty Grove in the 6th, singled in the 8th and doubled in the 9th.

Presently Witek is batting .271 with 2 home runs and 21 RBIs. He has played in 49 games and scored 14 times.
