Chandler, on Top of His Game, Beats Boston, 5-0
|
It wasn't easy but Spud Chandler made it look that way.
Chandler silenced the Boston Red Sox, 5-0, in a New York Yankees triumph at Fenway Park II today. Despite the appearance of dominance, Chandler said later that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up 2 walks and 3 hits.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else."
On his stats sheet for the year Chandler shows a 11-7 record, 19 starts, 170 innings, 51 strikeouts and a 2.86 ERA.
