Selkirk Smacks 5 Hits for Yankees
No matter what the St. Louis Browns threw at him today, George Selkirk hit it. He easily handled Browns pitching, going 5 for 5 and helping the Yankees to a 12-9 triumph at Sportsman's Park IV (AL).

"The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball," he told BNN reporters in the postgame interview.

Told of Selkirk's quip, Browns skipper said he "would take him up on that next time."

George Selkirk singled in the 2nd, tripled in the 4th, tripled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, walked in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.

Thus far this year Selkirk has hit .283 with 17 home runs and 59 RBIs.
