Lanier Baffles Cincinnati Batters

Max Lanier scattered 5 hits over 11 innings, going the distance in the 1-0 St. Louis Cardinals victory over the Cincinnati Reds at Sportsman's Park IV (NL). The 25-year-old Lanier whiffed 7 and allowed 2 walks in the game.
"Not perfect today, but I'll definitely take it," Lanier said later. "I made a couple mistakes but thankfully they didn't get all of them and the guys behind me cleaned things up."
