Cincinnati Comes up Empty Against Tamulis
|
The Philadelphia Phillies did little to support starter Vito Tamulis against the Cincinnati Reds, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The left-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Reds, striking out 2 and surrendering 5 hits. The performance from Tamulis allowed Philadelphia to escape with the 3-0 win despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said 'Vito, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Tamulis told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
So far this season Tamulis has a 3-2 record with a 2.93 ERA.
