Behind a solid performance from left fielder Bud Stewart, the San Diego Padres defeated the Oakland Oaks, 7-6. Stewart went 3 for 6 with 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Padres. With the win, the Padres sit at 73-68.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 11th. With one out, Stewart hit a fastball from Stan Corbett for a run-scoring single. The Padres, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
