Oakland Oaks starter Fred Gay was in fine form against the Portland Beavers at Vaughn Street Park, leading his team to a win, 5-3. Milo Candini notched his 3rd save in 3 chances. The triumph puts Oakland at 66-62 for the season.

Oakland used the bat of Earle Bolyard to get the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Oaks ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.

Bolyard told a Oakland News reporter he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
