Seattle right-hander Hal Turpin helped his team edge Oakland by the score of 2-1. Turpin kept the opposing lineup in check. The Rainiers raised their record to 42-77.

Bill Matheson was the walk-off hero for Seattle. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rainiers third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.

"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Matheson said.
