Wilkie Finds Groove in 5-1 Triumph
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Rainiers get after it.
The Seattle Rainiers got a stellar performance from pitcher Lefty Wilkie, who handcuffed the Los Angeles offense en route to a win, 5-1, at Sick's Stadium. Los Angeles has now lost 4 straight.
Wilkie, a native of Canada, was dealing all game. He kept Los Angeles hitters off-balance, while giving the Rainiers 9 quality innings. Wilkie threw 105 pitches, allowing 2 hits and striking out 3.
"Lefty is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Seattle manager Jim Burns.
