Solons Trip Stars, 3-1, in Extra Innings
|
Sacramento Solons starter Willie Cornelius was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Hollywood Stars, 3-1. Sacramento pitcher Nub Kleinke got the win, upping his record to 7-5. Don Osborn got the loss. The win puts Sacramento at 62-53 this season.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the tenth, with Sacramento trailing 1-0, Josh Gibson hit a forkball from Don Osborn for a 3-run home run, giving the Solons the walk-off win.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Sacramento manager Kurt Peterson.
