Seals Sneak Past Stars, 8-7
|
Seals shortstop Arky Vaughan put his stamp on his team's 8-7 win over the Hollywood Stars. Vaughan was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for San Francisco in the contest. San Francisco reliever Win Ballou picked up the win to move to 4-3. Bob Griffith suffered the loss. San Francisco has a 3-game win streak, while Hollywood has lost 4 in a row.
The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Vaughan delivered big-time for San Francisco, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Bob Griffith. The game-changing hit put the Seals on top, 8-7.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said San Francisco manager Mark Velez.
