Padres Edge Rainiers, 2-1
|
San Diego Padres starter Wally Hebert was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Seattle Rainiers, 2-1. The Rainiers, at 33-73, have lost 8 straight games.
In the bottom of the sixth, Don Trower delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 2nd, the San Diego shortstop hit a run-scoring single, putting the Padres in front, 2-1.
"The vibe's good," said San Diego manager Martin Abresch. "We've got to keep it going."
