The Portland Beavers knocked off the Los Angeles Angels, 8-6, at Vaughn Street Park. Herman Reich was a big reason Portland won. The first baseman was 1 for 1 with a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Portland reliever Frank Dasso was the winner. His record is now 9-2. The losing pitcher was Joe A Berry. The win gives Portland a season record of 54-51.

Reich had a game-changing double in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-0 knuckle curve from Roy Joiner, he banged a bases-clearing double to left-center, giving the Beavers a 7-6 lead. It was the 2nd double of the year for Reich.
