Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Portland Beavers got the win.

In a close game at Seals Stadium, the Portland Beavers edged the San Francisco Seals, 4-3. Portland right fielder Ed Coleman stood apart with his performance. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs. Frank Dasso was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 2 save opportunities.

Portland used the timely hitting of Gene Benson to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Beavers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Benson.

With the win, Portland upped its record to 48-43.
