The Oakland Oaks picked up a win at Vaughn Street Park, knocking off the Portland Beavers, 7-4. Starting pitcher Fred Gay was a big reason why. Oakland, now 44-45, holds down 5th place in the Coast League.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for George Myatt? The Oakland shortstop had a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Oaks on top, 3-0. For the game, Myatt had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
