No-Hit Masterpiece by Fleming
|
In a dominant outing, Bill Fleming of the Hollywood Stars totally silenced the bats of the Los Angeles Angels, finishing with a no-hitter.
In the Stars' 3-0 victory, Fleming faced only 29 batters, surrendered no hits, had 3 strikeouts and 2 walks.
"Honestly, I didn't even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning," Hollywood manager Mike Heath said. "I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten, and I happened to notice that they hadn't gotten any."
Commenting on the defeat, losing manager Al Borie told reporters in the clubhouse that he had a "pretty simple" analysis of the game.
"The Stars had all the hits and all the runs, so they won," he snapped. "But yeah, Fleming pitched a heck of a ballgame."
In 13 starts this season Fleming has notched a 6-5 record and a 3.40 ERA.
