Solons Win at Hollywood, 7-3
|
Sacramento right fielder Max Marshall contributed to his team's 7-3 win over the Hollywood Stars. Marshall, who finished 3rd in the PCL in stolen bases with 15 in 1939, went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Solons. Tom Seats got the win, improving to 2-4. He pitched 8.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 1. The 7th-place Solons now have a win-loss record of 31-40.
In the top of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, Marshall came to the plate. He hit a sacrifice fly off Leon Day to put the Solons in the lead, 3-2.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Marshall told the Sacramento Gazette.
